We got a "Standards of Student Conduct: Elementary Students" handbook in the mail today. J isn't allowed to see it, because I am not about to explain what "Forcible Rape Against Student" means. I'm afraid to imagine what the high school book looks like.

Back in June I mentioned the fun I had ensuring that J would be enrolled in the correct pre-K program. I didn't mention it, but the woman I spoke to the first time (who had assured me that he was in the right program) called me back a week later to ask what program we wanted him in. I know this is a universal problem, but why do so many people come to the conclusion that being elected to run part of a locality entitles them to go off in whatever direction they feel like going?
